Prediction of end of august did not happen

very confused - few weeks ago I was being told contact will happen in coming weeks? I was told they would break up early new year & now my question on contact between us has not been answered & i am being told they still stay in a relationship until next year. not sure why its all of a sudden changed, but feel i have wasted money.
